Do you want to learn more about Canada’s National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) and know who and what is contaminating your communities?

Register Now for this Informative NPRI Webinar!

The National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) is Canada’s source of information on the largest emitters of pollutants to air, land and water. Annual reporting is required under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA).

  • The primary purpose of NPRI is as a publicly accessible database of information on the release, disposal and transfer of over 320 pollutants from over 7000 facilities across Canada.

  • The aim is to assist in understanding pollutant releases in their communities and encourage actions to reduce pollution.

The NPRI’s Multi-stakeholder Working Group advises Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) on updates to NPRI. A subset of the working group comprises representatives from Environmental Non-Government Organizations (ENGO), including the Keepers of the Water Society (KOW).

  • Whether or not you have ever used the NPRI or even heard of it until now, your thoughts and experience are vital in ensuring the NPRI is relevant now and in the future.

  • There is little-to-no preparation required on behalf of participants. But instead, you will be asked about your previous experience (if any) with the NPRI

  • We will present some information and ask you to comment and brainstorm the type of information you find most useful.

  • The NPRI Working Group Representative for KOW, Crystal Stamp-Cardinal BSc, is planning a Webinar on March 7th that will feature a panel discussion with the opportunity for a question and answer period. This event will be recorded and posted on our Youtube channel.

  • Being a roundtable, other discussion issues may come up and are encouraged!
