Kevin Ahkimnachie

Dene Tha’ Nation

Kevin Ahkimnachie is from Dene Tha’ Nation. He is Dene from Chateh, Alberta.

Kevin has been the Director of Livelihood and Environment for the past twelve and a half years with the Treaty 8 First Nations of Alberta. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alberta (2004) and a Master of Education from Gonzaga University (2015). Since 2020, Kevin has been enrolled in a Master of Science at the University of Alberta.

Kevin currently lives in Edmonton and loves travelling in the territory and working directly with Treaty 8 communities. Kevin’s research, areas of interest and work are centred on the environment, lands, air, water, plants, animals, and Treaty rights. All of these things are intertwined within Treaty relationships.
